West Woolley Farm

The farm is set on the westerly edge of the peaceful hamlet of Woolley with views of the surrounding farmland and the sea beyond.

Woolley is one of a small group of hamlets in Morwenstow the most northerly parish in Cornwall bounded to the west by sandy beaches and the dramatic cliffs along which the South West Coastal Path provides spectacular scenery.  To the east is the Atlantic Highway (A39) leading south further into Cornwall or north into Devon.

West Woolley Farm with 11 ½ acres provides plenty of space to explore and is home to a variety of animals. No longer a fully working farm our animals are for all our guests to enjoy whether feeding the cows or collecting eggs.

Our Cow in fact is a Steer he was born in September 2005 on Bodmin Moor.  He is a Belted Galloway which is a rare native breed, we call him George. We also have some sheep. In the spring we usually have orphan lambs which are hand reared.

We have several chickens rescued from a local chicken farm who were restocking their flock.  They share the barn with our ducks.

If you want to go riding there are stables at nearby Gooseham Barton or if you would like to bring your horse we have two stables and plenty of grazing.

The farm previously had been occupied by the same family for over 300 years and some of the family still live in the village or look over the valley to us from neighbouring farms.

Our comfortable cottages were converted from dairy farm buildings which received a Country Landowners Award for the quality of the conversion.

The cottages, maintain a traditional feel with the use of slate and wood throughout.  Those situated around the courtyard have wobbly rooflines left intact and ceilings open to the boarded rafters.  Downstairs Anna's Cottage has a low ceiling with the original exposed beams so beware if you are over six foot three! Each is comfortably furnished with a mixture of antique and modern furniture and is well equipped for a relaxing home from home stay.

We have installed a system of recycling in each cottage and have our own extensive composting system.  All cottages have low energy lighting throughout and are cleaned using specially selected products which are biodegradable and eco friendly.  The loo rolls and kitchen rolls provided are all made from recycled paper.  We encourage our guests to make full use of the internet and email when booking to minimise the use of paper.   We still have some way to go and have lots of ideas for the future.  We welcome all suggestions.

The mild climate brings an early Spring and with the late arrival of Autumn this part of the Cornwall/Devon coast is ideal for holidays all year round.  Even Winter has its special charm with spectacular starry skies and dramatic sunsets over the rugged coast to the sea.

Being in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty we decided to become members of the Green Tourism Business Scheme and have their Silver Award.

Our aim is to provide excellent holiday accommodation for all our guests whilst minimising the environmental impact on this unspoilt part of Cornwall.
