Chickens and Ducks


Erin and Elle, the Indian Runners, have now been with us for a year and Clover , the Rouen, eighteen months. Of our four ducks Lucky, a Khaki Campbell, has been with us the longest [2 years] and has survived three fox attacks, hence the name! Half a Dozen Chicks

Our four ex-battery chickens seem to have given up laying at the moment. It could be the time of year or maybe they are all past their prime at almost three years old. We therefore decided we needed some new blood in the hen house. Ducks

We have four ducks.  A Khaki Campbell called Lucky, she survived three fox attacks hence her name!  A Rouen called Clover as the first thing she did when put on the grass was to start eating the clover. The other two are grey Indian Runners who stand tall and slender like super models so we call them Erin and Elle. Chickens

Our chickens are rescued ex battery hens.  They are looking much better than they did when we first got them. The bossy one is called Vera.  She had no feathers around her neck and chest when we first got her and she looked like a  vulture, so she became 'Vera the Vulture'!   She became 'page three girl' for a while when her neck feathers grew back but she still had a bare chest.  All ...
